First Amino Vital® Sports Science Foundation Roundtable Meets in New York

On November 19th and 20th, 2004, the Amino Vital® Sports Science Foundation is hosting a Roundtable at the W Times Square Hotel in New York City. The first major event sponsored by the Foundation, the Roundtable will bring together a number of leading experts on sports nutrition, and mental and physical performance, both from Ajinomoto and from outside the company. Discussions will range over a broad spectrum of research-related topics but will focus on exploring directions for activities and programs the Foundation may develop and sponsor in the first years of its existence.

Founded in November, 2004 to advance knowledge of the uses, benefits and long-term efficacy of amino acids in the fields of sports science and sports nutrition, the Foundation is now ready to inaugurate concrete programs and activities to achieve these goals. The November Roundtable is designed to give leading experts in the field the opportunity to discuss their current research activities as well as to participate in discussions regarding important areas of research on which the foundation might focus. A portion of the discussion will also relate to educational activities the Foundation might fund, including symposia at scientific meetings; support for relevant gatherings or events, fellowships for graduate/post-doctoral students and the like.

The output from the two-day Roundtable will be a summary document incorporating the recommendations and resolutions arising from these discussions. Come back to this site at the end of November for details on the contents of this summary document.
